In the other hand, Arnold is a little easier to learn and the official documentation is also very well written. We tried this on several workstations, so unless they magically all have the 'bug' it is not working.Ĭan some one please offer some help, otherwise we will have to roll back to max 2020, since this is unworkable. Mental Ray is superior for architectural renders (interior renders) and special effects render (fluids and volumetrics).
We have tried using the 'Automatically remove missing legacy assets on File Open' in the scene converted but does nothing. I know there is the Scene Converter stuff, but does Autodesk really expect us to convert thousands of files to remove a 'dead' plugin they used to own, if we want to avoid clicking away the missing dll warning 50 times a day? We have thousands of assets from 3rd party (Turbosquid, Designconnected, Evermotion.), not to mention thousands of previous projectfiles from which we sometimes want to use assets, and running projects. We have been in business since 2009 and NEVER used Mental Ray.
Since we installed max 2021 (did not have this issue with max 2020), EVERY SINGLE file we open or merge, we get the missing Mental Ray dll warning. I know Nvidia discontinued Mental Ray and this might not be the fault of Autodesk per sé, but as a mid size studio we pay Autodesk a hefty chunk on money every year to work with their software. I know this has been posted a few times, but i still cannot find any workable long term solution to this.
